Natalie has been involved in music for as long as she can remember, whether singing in choirs or playing clarinet in a band or orchestra. She’s always amazed by how every person's individual part in music comes together to create something so beautifully complete and emotionally powerful. In her 20s, her dad picked up a guitar and started a garage band, introducing her to jam bands and live rock and roll. She sang lead in that band until she shifted her focus to career and family. When she recently had the chance to return to music, her daughter encouraged her to jump back in—and she couldn’t be more grateful.
‘The bond you form together as a band is powerful and soulfully healing in many ways; it can be felt every time we make music together.’
‘When words fail, music speaks.’ – Hans Christian Andersen
Jason started playing drums in 6th grade and has never stopped. Growing up with influences like Rush, Pearl Jam, ’80s hair bands, and a bit of jazz (Chick Corea), he played in local bands throughout high school and college. He was part of the ISU marching band drumline and has continued playing for over 30 years.
For a long time, Jason was in an original band called The Supernatural Yes, which produced several popular music videos and is available on Spotify. These days, he really enjoys playing in cover bands. He still loves the alternative drumming style of the ’90s and misses his favorite drummer, Neil Peart.
Jason has been playing music since 4th grade. He began with saxophone and learned to read music. By sophomore year, he finished with the high school band but couldn’t continue with marching band. At 15, he bought his first guitar from his cousin’s husband—thanks Greg! He’s been learning and improving ever since. Influences include Motown, the Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Pearl Jam, the Grateful Dead, and Phish. Whether he’s learning songs note for note or jamming improvisationally, he just loves playing music!
Michael's been playing on and off since his late teens.
His first vivid memory of connecting with music was hearing his mom play Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. From there, his musical journey stretched from the Beach Boys to Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Rush—along with everything from Abba to Zappa.
Over the past decade, he’s played in a few casual bands just for fun.
Now a proud member of Generation Clash, he’s loving the dynamic of this band.
